[Hawaii Adventures] Waikiki Beach & Iolani Palace & Pearl Harbor National Memorial & Dole Plantation
Welcome back to Enjoy Your Life! Today, I’ll be sharing my experience visiting Hawaii.
Waikiki Beach
I think Hawaii is a travel destination that appeals to everyone, regardless of age or gender. Although my stay was short, it left me with many wonderful memories.
I went for a walk near the hotel. The weather was perfect, and everything felt so relaxing.
Next, I visited Waikiki Beach, one of Hawaii’s most famous beaches. The sand was soft and pleasant, which I really liked, but I was a little disappointed that the water wasn’t the emerald color I had imagined. It might be due to heavy use by visitors.
There’s a hotel right in front of the beach, and I wished the Ritz-Carlton Residence was located there. Since it was the off-season, there weren’t many people around, which made it feel even more peaceful.
There’s also a rest area, and the trail along the beach is very nice. I felt truly free and relaxed, enjoying the quiet of Hawaii outside the busy vacation season.

The Iolani Palace was built in 1882 by King Kalakaua of the Hawaiian dynasty. The last queen, Liliuokalani, lived here until she abdicated in 1893.
At first glance, the palace reminded me of European architecture, though it wasn’t very grand. I didn’t go inside, as I wasn’t particularly interested, but if you enjoy Hawaiian history, I would recommend visiting.
After leaving the palace, I went for a drive. Driving through alleys like this was really fun.
I noticed that the ducks didn’t run away or seem scared even when cars passed by—they must be used to people. Feeding them also attracts chickens, and it’s clear that the people who feed them do it regularly, not just once or twice.
Later, I drove to the beach, which was absolutely amazing—it felt like heaven. Along the way, the scenery was beautiful, and driving toward the mountains was very easy and enjoyable.
Personally, I love driving, and driving in the U.S. feels very different from Korea. There are fewer traffic lights, and it doesn’t feel as congested as Korean highways, making the experience more relaxed.

Pearl Harbor National Memorial

I visited Pearl Harbor, which is also well-known in Korea thanks to the movie. As many of you know, the U.S. entered World War II after Japan’s air strikes on Pearl Harbor. Let’s take a look at Pearl Harbor together.
At the entrance, your belongings would be checked before entering.
Inside, you can see missiles and a submarine. The weather was beautiful throughout my stay, making the visit even more enjoyable.
There’s also a statue, though I’m not sure who it represents.
Overall, it was a great experience. I recommend visiting Pearl Harbor if you have the time. If your hotel is near Waikiki Beach, it takes about an hour by car. I went in the mid-morning, and parking took a while because it’s such a popular tourist spot. Still, Pearl Harbor is so famous that I was very satisfied with my visit.

After the Pearl Harbor tour, I headed to the Dole Plantation, which is about an hour and ten minutes by car from Waikiki Beach. The Dole Plantation is where James Drummond Dole built the first pineapple farm, marking the beginning of the history of the Dole Company, now famous worldwide for its fruit.
Upon arriving, you can see a large farm stretching out before you.
I also saw cacao fruit, which is amazing considering chocolate comes from this fruit. According to the description, these fruits are used to make Waialua Estate Chocolate. There were so many cacao beans, and I wondered how many months it takes to harvest and process them.
Then there are the pineapples. For the first time, I realized that pineapples grow from the ground—I had always thought they grew on trees. There were also red pineapples, which looked unripe. You can see the colored pineapples found in regular supermarkets, but the ones at the plantation are smaller and not ready for harvest yet. The little ones are really cute!
The plantation has a fun little train that children will enjoy. Inside, you can buy souvenirs and Dole products. Since it’s a pineapple farm, I tried a variety of pineapple dishes, including meat with pineapple and pineapple ice cream. The food was sufficient to satisfy my hunger.
Dole Plantation is especially great for families with children, as it’s educational and fun to see how pineapples grow. When I visited, many families were enjoying the experience.
After exploring both Pearl Harbor and Dole Plantation, we returned to our accommodation near Waikiki Beach. This concludes today’s review of these two popular attractions.
Summary: The visit was really enjoyable. I would especially recommend Pearl Harbor and the Dole Plantation to families traveling with young children. Personally, I’d give both attractions five out of five points.
Have a great day.
